The Queen Anne's Revenge Project is a cooperative effort led by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources that seeks to investigate, interpret and preserve the remains of the Blackbeard's flagship.
In doing so, the project helps historians paint a better picture of the Colonial period in North Carolina by shedding light on the wider political and economic systems of the time. The project would not be possible without the contributions of many partners:
The Underwater Archaeology Branch is part of the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology. The Branch manages the state's underwater cultural resources by investigating and documenting underwater archaeological sites and maintaining records on more than 5,000 historically documented shipwrecks and other water-related topics. | |
The North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort offers a taste of coastal cultures and maritime history. Exhibits feature the state’s rich seafood industry, life-saving stations and lighthouses and sailboats and motorboats. The Museum is the official repository for artifacts recovered from Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge. | |
Nautilus Productions has obtained underwater footage of the infamous pirate Blackbeard's ship throughout the project, and it may license the use of its stock footage. | |
